In my experience, the best interviews are the conversations vs the interrogations. I enjoy the interview process when employers are interested in getting to know who I am as a professional and also as a person. When our company hires, we look for people who can impress us with their thinking not just doing what we ask. If we request a task that doesn't make sense, will this employee just do it or question why and propose a different idea as well? Thanks for the blog, good points.

As things change in the workplace, it is interesting to see dynamics moving from one direction to another as far as what employees want and what employers are willing to offer. When I first started hiring professionals over 20 years ago, the dress code for one was very different. Suits, ties, full professional attire. As time progressed, it was the little thing that candidates wanted that were always interesting to me (they wanted to wear jeans on Friday's, etc). As we adapted over the years, we realized we could adjust small things in our procedures and make our staff happy at little to no cost (casual Friday's). Good article - sometimes retaining staff simply means listening to the little things they prefer making them part of the solution.

Read the blog, will start utilizing the steps to make lists. I read once that if you write your goals down, they land in a different place in your brain vs if you type your goals down. Writing the goal helps you to retain it. Just sharing......

Once I interviewed an applicant for a job, I asked him "Why should I hire you to work here" and his reply, "because I need a paycheck". Needless to say, I was not impressed. I agree that employees help drive business or turn it away, hiring the right people can make or break your business. Hiring the people who believe what I believe will help grow the business. Thanks for the post.

It's funny, the habit I have at work is to park my car in the same spot or area each time. It's a small thing but one that I thought of after I read this blog. I can see why changing small habits can impact a company. Focusing on facts and not making decisions because they are comfortable or habit is a good way of looking at moving companies ahead. Thanks for post.
